Cyber ranges & CTFs

Cyber Ranges

ATA resells and delivers all four leading cyber range platforms — paired with live, practitioner-led instruction and mentoring. Ranges are live environments where we run cyber exercises, drills, events and skill development mapped to your mission roles, with course content modules built into every platform.

Live instruction & mentoring

ATA leverages each platform with practitioner instructors and range masters — enhancing the asynchronous labs and course content modules with live instruction and live mentoring.

Compete against ATA red & blue teams

We coordinate and run the events — and your teams can face off against ATA's own red team and blue team in live-fire exercises.

Train, then prove it

We use the ranges to teach and train, then execute a follow-on event that proofs skill proficiency under pressure.

CYBER RANGES

Purpose-built simulation range platform

A dedicated, military-grade platform for designing, delivering and managing cyber range exercises end to end. Teams train on high-fidelity replicas of real systems and networks from a large scenario library, and operators can author their own scenarios and orchestrate automated, multi-user Red vs. Blue events to test operational readiness. Built-in profiling pinpoints individual and team skills gaps and tracks capability over time. Its standout strength is deployment flexibility.

Best fit: Organizations that need to build and run their own custom, measurable team exercises — especially government, critical-infrastructure and data-sovereignty-sensitive environments.

Key range components

  • Scenario library + custom authoring
  • Automated Red vs. Blue events
  • Sandbox for product/process testing
  • MITRE ATT&CK Defender labs
  • Skills-gap profiling & capability tracking
  • Deploy as SaaS, private cloud, fully on-prem (data sovereignty) or portable field kit

Hack The Box

Dedicated Labs, Professional Labs & Cloud Labs

HTB's enterprise range capability centers on three building blocks. Dedicated Labs are private, isolated environments of individual virtual machines that teams populate from an ever-expanding pool updated weekly — ideal for self-paced practice and assessment. Professional Labs are full virtualized networks that mimic real corporate infrastructure, including mature, fully-patched Active Directory and advanced red-team scenarios, redeployable on demand. Cloud Labs (BlackSky) extend training into real AWS, GCP and Azure environments for cloud pentesting and hardening — with reporting, benchmarking and gap analysis layered on, scaling from ten concurrent users upward.

Best fit: Teams wanting fresh, realistic offensive labs at scale, with strong cloud and Active Directory coverage.

Key range components

  • Dedicated Labs (private VM pools)
  • Professional Labs (enterprise / Active Directory networks)
  • BlackSky Cloud Labs (AWS / GCP / Azure)
  • Weekly-updated content
  • Team benchmarking & reporting
  • CPE credits on Pro Lab completion

OffSec

Proving Grounds & Learn Enterprise (OffSec Cyber Range)

OffSec's range capability comes in two layers. Proving Grounds is a network of standalone, private vulnerable machines for self-paced offensive practice — PG Play (community-built Linux targets) and PG Practice (OffSec-built Windows/Linux machines plus retired exam labs, available 24/7 with new content monthly). For teams, Learn Enterprise unlocks the OffSec Cyber Range: an Offensive range (attack chains, including PEN-200 challenge labs), a Defensive range (DFIR, incident handling and threat hunting across Active Directory, web, phishing, supply-chain and CVE scenarios) and the Versus live-fire capability for Red vs. Blue face-offs — all with a real-time analytics dashboard.

Best fit: Teams that want deep, offensive-led hands-on practice plus enterprise Red vs. Blue live-fire with reporting.

Key range components

  • Proving Grounds (Play + Practice)
  • OffSec Cyber Range: Offensive + Defensive + Versus live-fire
  • Simulated enterprise / Active Directory networks
  • Manager analytics & progress reporting
  • Dedicated ranges shaped to your environment

SANS

NetWars & Skills Quest

SANS delivers hands-on range training through two complementary capabilities. NetWars is a suite of six ranges — Core, Cyber Defense, DFIR, GRID, ICS and Healthcare — built around real-world, story-driven challenges spanning offensive and defensive skills, most often run as team-based tournaments with a scorecard that benchmarks individual skill levels and supports talent identification. Skills Quest by NetWars brings the same style of regularly updated exercises into a self-paced cyber range with roughly six months of on-demand access, designed for continuous practice between events. Both contribute CPE credits.

Best fit: Teams that want proven, scenario-driven range exercises spanning offense and defense, in both competitive-event and self-paced formats.

Key range components

  • NetWars ranges: Core, Cyber Defense, DFIR, GRID, ICS, Healthcare
  • Team tournament format with skills scorecard
  • Skills Quest self-paced cyber range (~6 months on-demand)
  • CPE credits
