The Collective Expertise Driving Our Vision Forward

The excitement at Black Hat USA 2024 was inspiring, with attendees and instructors alike still raving about the incredible experience. Held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, this year’s event set a new benchmark for industry-standard security training and education. The energy and enthusiasm were infectious, making it an unforgettable event for everyone involved.

Applied Technology Academy, renowned for its cutting-edge curriculum and expert instructors, offered their highly sought-after OffSec classes to a record number of students at the conference. As the exclusive Black Hat USA OffSec Training Partner, Applied Technology Academy hosted three different courses: PEN-200 with 50 attendees focused on penetration testing skills; SOC-200 with 20 attendees centered around security operations competencies; and EXP-401 with 39 attendees delving into expert-level exploitation techniques.

This year was the first time OffSec allowed a third party to teach their courses at Black Hat, and Applied Technology Academy did not disappoint.  Jim O’Gorman, Chief Content and Strategy Officer for OffSec, shared that he “had every bit of confidence it was going to go well, but it has definitely exceeded my expectations.”

A standout feature of this year’s training was the involvement of the Asymmetric Training Group (ATG), a new initiative by Applied Technology Academy. ATG’s mission is to deliver advanced, best-in-class, hands-on cybersecurity training that empowers individuals to excel in real-world cyber engagements. The instructors from ATG were praised for their exceptional teaching skills and deep expertise, as evidenced by the following student feedback:

  • “Trainers are extremely knowledgeable & go out of their way to ensure all students are tracking the material & labs.” (PEN-200 student)
  • “The instructor cadre was exceptional!” (PEN-200 student)
  • “ATA is a great team. Engaging and informative. I feel as though I have been given the tools to pass my OSCP certification. Thank you!” (PEN-200 student)
  • “Both instructors clearly had the knowledge & experience necessary to teach the course.” (SOC-200 student)
  • “Course content and delivery was very good. It has given me a good amount of information to progress further on exploit development.” (EXP-401 student)
  • “Excellent course -> traveling from the other side of the world, it is the only course I would make the trip for :)” (EXP-401 student)
